A couple of years ago, I used to shy away from red lipsticks thinking that I could never pull off the intensely bright colour. Today, I am all about those bold lips and can rock a red on my worst days.
Valentine’s Day is almost here so I thought I would share some of my top favourite red lip colours. Whether you’re spending the day with your special someone, with your girlfriends or just alone at home in pjs like me (with a box of heart shaped chocolates & some classic Ben&Jerry’s, watching a rom-com), don’t forget to wear your best red and rock.
Here are my 4 favourite red lips to wear on Valentine’s Day (or any other day) …
Rimmel 107 :
Although not a classic red, I consider the 107 to be a significant part of the red family. With an undertone of pink, this lipstick is the perfect shade for medium to dark skins such as mine. Its matte making it great for a bold day to night look. Moreover, Rimmel is one of those drugstore brands which stand on a perfect line of reasonable price for great quality. I can’t keep my hands off this one !
M.A.C Ruby Woo :
Now here is a picture perfect red. The lipstick that is loved & cherished worldwide, pursed on the lips of Taylor Swift, this lipstick is the queen of red shades. Its extremely matte making it long-lasting for the perfect date night out. This one won’t move an inch all day but make sure to moisturise your lips before applying as it can be quite drying.
Maybelline Colour Drama – Intense Velvet :
This lip pencil is true to its name and colour. An intense red that glides on as smooth as velvet. You can use this as a traditional lip pencil to contour your lips and add a lighter red shade inside for an ombre effect or wear it by itself. Either way its super moisturising and will leave your lips feeling healthy & plump.
Rimmel 10 :
The Rimmel 10 is a perfect dupe for the Ruby woo except it is not matte. It has an intense colour pigmentation to give you glossy red lips that last all day. It is a bit smudgy which is why I use a lip brush for precise application.
